High Blood Pressure, and You

High blood pressure happens when the heart pumps blood around your body at a pressure too high. This can damage and weaken your blood vessels, leading to dangerous health issues. The Health Promotion Board recommends a healthy blood pressure reading of less than 120/80 mmHg.

Here are some shocking facts about high blood pressure:

#1 More than 50% of Singaporean elderly have high blood pressure.

#2 High blood pressure increases your risk of stroke and heart attack, which shows no signs or symptoms.

#3 An average Singaporean eats 60% more salt than needed. This is because the food we eat outside has a lot of salt.
